Through its Homeownership Programs and supports, the NHC assists residents who can afford the costs of homeownership to secure and maintain their house. As well, homeownership education and counseling services are provided to home owners. These services include consultations regarding purchase of existing homes or new home construction, repairs, renovations, bank financing and energy conservation.
Provides financial contributions towards a down payment to assist Nunavummiut in becoming homeowners through purchasing, or constructing, a home.
Supports homeowners with vital repairs required for the continued safety and occupancy of their homes.
Assists seniors and disabled homeowners with general maintenance items. This program also covers special needs: inspection, maintenance of home adaptions which could improve mobility.
Allows tenants who are able to assume the costs and responsibility of homeownership to purchase their current public housing unit.
The Seniors and Persons with Disabilities Housing Options Program allows Elders and Persons with Disabilities for whom owning and maintaining a home has become burdensome, to transfer their home to someone in public housing (or on the public housing waitlist) that can afford the ongoing costs of homeownership. When no transferee can be identified, clients may sell their home to the NHC.
Upon transfer or sale of the home to NHC, clients are given priority access to the NHC Public Housing Program.

The HPIE numbers for NHC homeownership programs is based on updates to the community Core Need Income Thresholds (CNIT), provided by CMHC, and calculated to include full estimated construction costs.
