Nunavut Housing Corporation and NCC Development Limited sign major Partnership Agreement

Rankin Inlet, Nunavut (October 18, 2022) – Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) and NCC Development Limited (NCCD) today announced the signing of a major housing partnership agreement as part of Igluliuqatigiingniq – building houses together, the Nunavut 3000 strategy.

The Partnership Agreement brings NHC and NCCD together to leverage their collective strengths in the delivery of more housing to Nunavummiut. The 10-year agreement will create the opportunity for NCCD to deliver up to 2,000 new housing units across the territory.

“We are committed to being accountable and transparent to Nunavummiut about housing. Together, with NCCD and the Government of Nunavut, we will fulfill the Katujjiluta vision to create new housing in all communities,” said Minister responsible for the Nunavut Housing Corporation Lorne Kusugak. “We’re not just building units, we’re building homes, we’re building security, we’re building stability for now and future generations,”

“Our organization is committed to mobilizing Northern resources to build facilities by and for Nunavummiut,” said NCCD Chairperson Harry Flaherty. “NCCD stands by Nunavut 3000’s vision to reduce the social and economic costs of inadequate and unaffordable housing. An investment in housing creates employment and capacity-building opportunities across Nunavut communities.”

Igluliuqatigiingniq, the Nunavut 3000 strategy, outlines how NHC and partners will work together to deliver 3,000 new units over the next eight years.
